Africa-Press – Rwanda. The first week of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors/J30 on Kigali’s clay court culminated in thrilling finals which left American Eaden-Zack Harron and India’s Janvi Asawa crowned champions top seeds Jannat Chiripal and Shaurya Swarup to claim trophies in boys and girls singles categories respectively.
The finals matches brought the first week to a close at IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis with the second week immediately starting with the main draw on Monday.

The first final of the day saw Indian pair Asawa (No 2 seed) and Chiripal (No 1 seed) battling it out in a grueling three-set thriller which lasted three hours and 11 minutes.

Asawa, 17, started brightly and claimed the first set 7-5 before Chiripal reacted and took the second set 6-3 to level game and force it to third and decisive set.
The two seemed to have equal chances to win the match but Asawa came back strong and took the set 6-2 to claim the victory although she had to leave the court in pain.
Next up was the boys singles final which American rising star Eaden-Zack Harron took home after beating India Shaurya Swarup in straight sets 7-5 76-6 in the final.
Harron was made to wait for the victory after Swarup forced the second set into tie break but he held on to win it 6-3.

There won’t be a single day off for the champions who begin their trophy defense on Monday, April 28, when they second week of the tournament commences and run through May 4.
