Africa-Press – Rwanda. AS Muhanga have agreed a deal with Moussa Gatera to manage the club for the next two seasons, sources have told Times Sport.
Reports had linked the Rutsiro FC coach to a move to the Muhanga-based club after it was promoted to the Rwandan top tier league for the 2025/26 season.
Rutsiro FC management was, however, quick to dismiss the potential move, insisting that he would stay at the club and see off his contract in June 2026.
But a source close to AS Muhanga confirmed to Times Sport that the coach has already signed for the club and is expected to start work on July 7.
AS Muhanga earned promotion back to the Rwanda Premier League after five years in the second division, under coach Gaspard Munyeshema who has now signed a one-year deal to coach Sunrise FC next season.
Gatera inherits the club until June 2027. Former Musanze FC coach Sosthene Habimana and former Muhazi United coach Emmanuel Ruremesha and for club coach Abdou Mbarushimana were also in the running for the job.
Gatera previously coached Sunrise FC, Isonga FC, and Rayon Sports FC as an assistant coach, as well as the Rwanda national team U17. He has also worked as head coach at Espoir FC, Gorilla FC, and Rutsiro FC.
