Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda has been drawn in Group C alongside Ethiopia, Senegal, and Congo for the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup Africa Group IV tournament, which is set to take place in Kigali from July 14–19 at IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis Club.

The draw, conducted on Sunday, July 13, split the 12 participating nations into three groups of four. Each team will play a round-robin format, with ties consisting of two singles and one doubles match.

Rwanda, who finished fourth in last year’s edition, will be hoping to make the most of home advantage as they take on familiar opponents in a balanced but competitive group.

Ahead of the competition, team captain Olive Tuyisenge said the players are confident and fully focused on their objective—to qualify for Group 3.

“We are ready for the tournament. We have been training consistently for the past one month and two weeks. Our main goal is to win the tournament and advance to Group III,” she said.

“We encourage fans to come in numbers to help us achieve our goals.”

The national team features Swiss-based Lia Kaishiki Mosimann, Sonia Tuyishime, Gisele Umumararungu, and Tuyisenge, all under the guidance of head coach Sylvain Rutikanga.

Participating nations include hosts Rwanda, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Tanzania, Mozambique, Togo, Congo, Sudan, Benin, Seychelles and Senegal

The full draw is as follows:

Group A: Cameroon, Lesotho, Mozambique, Benin

Group B: Tanzania, Togo, Seychelles, Sudan

Group C: Rwanda, Ethiopia, Senegal, Congo

Format

With the 12 teams divided into three groups (A, B, C) of four teams, the group stage will be played in a two-stage round-robin.

Second-placed teams (A2, B2, C2) will play for 4th to 6th positions, then those which finish in third places will contest for 7th to 9th positions and bottom-placed teams also play between them for 10th to 12th positions.
