Africa-Press – Rwanda. Édouard Ngirente has expressed deep gratitude to President Paul Kagame following the conclusion of his eight-year tenure as Rwanda’s Prime Minister.
Ngirente, who was succeeded by Justin Nsengiyumva on Wednesday, July 23, had served as Prime Minister since 2017.
“I am so grateful to President Paul Kagame for the honor of serving as the Prime Minister of our beloved Rwanda for the past eight years,” Ngirente said in a post on late on Wednesday. “This journey has been deeply enriching, filled with growth, guidance, and purpose.”
He added, “Mr. President, I wish to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity you gave me to serve my country, and for being such an inspiring mentor throughout this journey. It’s a chapter I’ll always carry with pride.”
New Prime Minister
Like Ngirente, the new Prime Minister is an economist.
Until his appointment, Nsengiyumva served as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), a position he held since February.
He previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry and in the Ministry of Education.
Nsengiyumva holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.
