Africa-Press – Rwanda. TEAM Rwanda women’s cycling coach Nathan Byukusenge believes that his riders have what it takes to impress at the Pupkewitz Megabuild Windhoek Women’s Tour.

The race, registered on the UCI calendar as a 2.2 event, is scheduled for July 31 through August 3.

“This is a good opportunity for our girls to show what they can do for the continental event. It is a huge event; we are capable of winning medals. We have prepared well, it is possible for us, and I believe our girls can do that,” Byukusenge said.

“The competitions they have been racing in Rwanda have help them to prepare. They have a good mentality and are ready for the race. They have improved on the previous races and it is also important to take that at this race,” said the former Team Rwanda rider.

The CAC Pupkewitz Megabuild Windhoek Women’s Tour comprises four stages where teams will be competing in two categories, namely Women Elite and Women U23.

The teams eligible to participate include UCI Women’s Pro Teams, UCI Women ‘s Continental Teams, UCI Cyclo-Cross, Professional Teams, National Teams, Regional and Club Teams, as well as Mixed Teams.

Team Rwanda’s team in Windhoek includes professional rider Diane Ingabire, who plies her trade in Germany, Josiane Mukashema, Martha Ntakirutimana, Valentine Nzayisenga, and Charlotte Iragena.

The first stage, which is a Time Trial is dues on Thursday, July 31, and will be in Harmony Hill and will run for 7.0km.
