Africa-Press – Rwanda. Candidates who sat for the 2024/2025 national examinations for Primary Six and Ordinary Level of Secondary School will know their results on Tuesday, August 19, the Ministry of Education said on Sunday.

This ministry added that the new academic year (2025-2026) will begin on September 8.

“The Ministry of Education is pleased to notify candidates, parents, and the public that the 2024/2025 Primary Leaving and O’Level National Examination results will be released on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.,” read part the announcement.

According to National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), 220,840 candidates sat for the Primary Leaving Examinations, while 149,134 candidates sat for the Ordinary Level exams.

In national exams for the 2023-2024 academic year, girls outperformed boys in primary, while boys performed better in O-Level.

A total of 202,021 students sat for the Primary Leaving Examinations (111,249 girls and 90,772 boys) while 143,227 candidates sat for O-Level exams (79,933 girls and 63,294 boys).

The results of the Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) indicate that girls outperformed boys, with a pass rate of 97 per cent compared to 96.6 per cent for boys. The general pass rate is 96.8 per cent.

For the O-Level exams, the trend reversed, with boys achieving a pass rate of 95.8 per cent, surpassing the 92 per cent pass rate for girls.
