Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda TVET Board (RTB) scholarship programme is set to sponsor the education of more than 2,000 best-performing students from low-income families.
Currently supporting a total of 1,803 students nationwide, the programme targets to reach over a total of 4,000 recipients with 2,197 new beneficiaries for the upcoming 2025/2026 academic year, according to RTB.
The programme, supported by the German government, aims to provide access to technical education and enhance the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.
Launched in 2023 through a partnership between the Government of Rwanda and the Government of Germany through KfW Development Bank, the scholarship provides full coverage for top-performing students based on their Ordinary Level National Examination results.
The project has approved 14 technical programmes offered across the selected schools. These include Agriculture, Animal Health, Electronic and Telecommunication, Manufacturing Technology, Electrical Technology, Water and Irrigation, Leather Technology, Wood Technology, Heavy Machinery, Renewable Energy, Automobile Technology, Plumbing Technology, Forestry, and Food Processing.
Based on their performance and socioeconomic status of their households, eligible students from the selected schools are selected by the Rwanda TVET Board.
Among the selected schools are ESTB Busogo, Kabutare TSS, Kinihira TSS, Nyanza TSS, Nyamata TSS, Nelson Mandela TSS, Mpanda TSS, Gisovu TSS, Giheke TSS, Muganza TSS, Rubengera II TSS, HVP Gatagara TSS, Ecole Technique St Kizito Save, EFA Nyagahanga, EAV Rushashi, Father Ramon Kabuga TSS.
Others include ES Kinazi TSS, Mibirizi Saint Augustin TSS, Gatumba TSS, Kabona TSS, Kayenzi TSS, Shangi TSS, Don Bosco Nyamagabe TSS, Kisaro TSS, Janja TSS, Ngarama TSS, Bukure TSS, Cyumba TSS, EAV Ntendezi, Cyanika TSS, Bumba TSS, Kinazi TSS, and Kavumu TSS.
Busasamana TSS, ES Bishyiga, Kibeho TSS, Nyamirama TSS, Rwabuye TSS, APENA TSS, Nyabikenke TSS, Kiyumba TSS, Kibihekane TSS, EAV Kivumu Shonga TSS, Bigogwe TSS, and ESTG are on the list too.
“RTB will select eligible beneficiaries from the list of students placed in the above-mentioned schools by NESA, considering their academic performance and the socioeconomic status of their households,” RTB Director General Paul Umukunzi, said in an announcement.
