APR FC 2-0 BUMAMURU
Striker Cheikh Djibril Ouattara and new signing William Togui scored in either half to help APR FC register their first win at the CECAFA Kgaame Cup with a 2-0 win over Bumamuru of Burundi on Wednesday, September 3 at KMC Stadium in Tanzania.
The army side is regarded as strong favourite to win this year’s edition taking place in Dar es Salaam, after losing the 2024 crown to Zambia’s Red Arrows on penalties in the final.
Ouattara netted opening goal inside seven minutes of action, thanks to the assist of Hakim Bugingo.
Then Togui doubled the lead in the 73rd minute to cap off the military side’s bright start to the campaign with a win.
APR FC traveled to Tanzania for the competition without eight of their key players who went on international duty for their respective countries at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers.
They will next face Zanzibar side Mlandege on Saturday, September 6, before concluding their Group B campaign against home side KMC.
