Rwandan clubs set for 2025 KAVC tournament in Kampala

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda’s APR VC, REG VC, and Police VC have confirmed their participation in the 2025 Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) tournament, scheduled for September 12–14 in Kampala, Uganda.

The competition will feature both men’s and women’s categories.

According to Gertrude Kubwimana, the Technical Director of Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB), Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), the women’s titleholders, have not yet confirmed their participation in the tournament.

In the 2024 edition, REG and RRA clinched the tournament in men’s and women’s categories respectively. RRA defeated Police 3–2 in the women’s final, while REG outclassed APR’s with a convincing 3–0 victory.

This year, APR and Police will both field men’s and women’s teams, while REG will only compete in the men’s category. Kepler, which represented Rwanda in 2024, will not be part of this year’s lineup.

The KAVC tournament has grown into one of East and Central Africa’s premier volleyball events, attracting elite clubs and national teams from across the continent.

The 2025 edition is expected to be even bigger, with teams from 10 countries looking to dominate the competition which will take place at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
