Africa-Press – Rwanda. Volleyball star Yves Mutabazi is reportedly on the verge of returning to APR Volleyball Club, despite earlier rumours linking him with a move to Gisagara VC.
The team has not officially confirmed the talks, but sources have told Times Sport that Mutabazi is now expected to rejoin the army side.
Meanwhile, in the women’s league, Kepler WVC is reportedly in talks with three new additions including Kenyan receiver-attacker Daisy Chepkirui, Josiane Umwali from Police WVC, and Hope Musaniwabo.
At the same time, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) is said to be finalising negotiations with South Sudanese left attacker Abuk Wol.
As the transfer window nears its close, just days before the 2025/26 volleyball season kicks off on October 10, most women’s clubs have been relatively quiet in the market.
However, with the new season approaching fast, team managers are stepping up efforts to strengthen their squads.
Mutabazi, a standout outside hitter, missed the entire second phase of the 2024/25 season with Kepler VC.
Earlier reports had suggested that he would join the returning duo of Sylvester Ndayisaba and Ronald Muvara at Gisagara VC on a two-year deal.
The 2021 African Volleyball Championship hero who shone as Rwanda finished sixth out of 12 participating nations in Kigali, now appears set for a return to APR VC on a two-year contract.
On the women’s side, sources indicate that Wol, formerly with Cobra VC in Kenya, has already started training with RRA WVC, while the trio of Umwali, Chepkirui, and Musaniwabo are expected to be officially unveiled as Kepler’s new signings in the coming days.
