Africa-Press – Rwanda. Major General Emmy Ruvusha has completed his one-year tour of duty as Joint Task Force Commander of the Rwanda Security Forces (RSF) deployed in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado Province. He officially handed over command to Major General Vincent Gatama on October 10.
Rwanda first deployed its forces to Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado Province in 2022 at the request of the Mozambican government to help combat terrorism and restore stability.
Working alongside Mozambican troops, Rwandan forces have since dislodged ISIS-linked insurgents from key strongholds including Mocímboa da Praia, Awasse, Palma, Quionga, Chinda, Mbau, Mpalanganha, Tete, Njama, Quelimane, and Siri.
The handover ceremony, held at the RSF Headquarters in Mocímboa da Praia, brought together both commanders and their staff to mark the transition of leadership.
