Africa-Press – Rwanda. Police Volleyball Clubs won the Medwell Pre-Season tournament trophies in both the men’s and women’s categories after dominant final victories against Kepler and APR Women Volleyball Club respectively at Petit Stade on Saturday, October 11.
The two-day tournament, which brought together 13 topflight clubs, served as a platform to test teams’ readiness ahead of the 2025/26 National Volleyball League whose season kicks off on October 17.
Fred Musoni’s Police VC won the men’s tournament after sweeping Kepler VC in a tightly contested final battle. Kepler made it so tough for Police in the first set, but the latter ended up winning it 25–22 before comfortably taking the next two sets 25–19, 25–21 to win the trophy.
Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Police WVC avenged their previous loss at the Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) Tournament, defeating APR WVC in straight sets 3–0 (25–20, 25–21, 25–16).
This marked their third consecutive trophy this year. They also won the Liberation Cup, Genocide Memorial Tournament (GMT).
Beyond the main competition, the tournament also featured a Healthcare Professionals’ category, where the Ministry of Health (MINISANTE) emerged champions after beating the Medical Students’ Association of Rwanda (MEDSAR) 3–1 (25–23, 20–25, 25–21, 25–21).
In the amateur volleyball segment, the National Team Legends also celebrated victory after defeating Kinyinya VC to lift the trophy.
