Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rayon Sports captain Ali Serumongo has called on his teammates to remain focused following their hard-fought 1-0 victory against Marines FC on Sunday, November 2 at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu.
Forward Azziz Bassane netted the decisive goal in the 81st minute, finishing from a tight angle after a fine assist from Gloire Tambwe.
The win kept Rayon Sports in second place on the Rwanda Premier League table with 13 points, three behind leaders Police FC.
Speaking after the match, Serumongo said the team must maintain its focus and consistency if they are to challenge for the league title.
“We need to take every game seriously. After earning three points, our focus immediately shifts to the next match. If we keep collecting more points, we’ll close the gap with Police,” he said.
“Let’s stay united and focused. It’s a tough league, but we must fight for maximum points,” he added.
The result marked Rayon Sports’ third consecutive victory, a strong turnaround after a sluggish start to the season in which they failed to win any of their opening three fixtures.
The former SC Kiyovu right-back also emphasized the importance of learning from early setbacks.
“We have to forget the past and focus on the future. We must believe in ourselves and keep working hard to stay prepared,” he said.
Rayon Sports are chasing their first league title since 2019.
