Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda’s Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa has presented her credentials to the heads of major United Nations agencies in Vienna, Austria.
Bakuramutsa, who is also Rwanda’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, reaffirming the country’s commitment to deepening cooperation in areas of science, industry, and peace.
Between November 11 and 12, Bakuramutsa presented her Letters of Credence to Ghada Waly, Director General of the UN Office at Vienna (UNOV); Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA); Gerd Müller, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); and Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).

During her meeting with Waly, Bakuramutsa highlighted Rwanda’s ongoing collaboration with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), particularly in anti-corruption and crime prevention efforts.
At the IAEA, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in nuclear science and technology to support Rwanda’s socio-economic transformation, with the ambassador reaffirming Rwanda’s participation in the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme.

At UNIDO, she and Müller signed a project titled “Strengthening Rwanda’s capacities to respond to industrial and natural hazards.” The initiative, funded by Poland, will be implemented jointly with the Ministry of Interior and the Fire and Rescue Brigade of the Rwanda National Police.
She also held talks with Driss El Hadani, Deputy Director of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), to explore cooperation in space science. Bakuramutsa later met with Robert Floyd of the CTBTO, where discussions centered on the organization’s role in promoting global peace and security.

On the sidelines, the Ambassador also met senior IAEA and UNIDO officials and engaged with the Rwandan community in Austria, reaffirming the government commitment to active engagement at both the multilateral and community levels.
