Shuttle Service Launching Between Kigali Airport Hotels

Africa-Press – Rwanda. A new shuttle service is set to be introduced between Kigali International Airport and selected hotels as part of efforts to promote cleaner mobility and enhance public transport, The New Times has learnt.

The service will offer reduced fares compared to conventional airport taxis, as it will operate on a shared-ride model designed to carry multiple passengers per trip, making airport transfers more affordable for travellers.

It will be managed by state-owned transport company EcoFleet Solutions.

The initiative will operate as a dedicated airport shuttle system using environmentally friendly electric vehicles, with a focus on improving convenience for travellers while reducing reliance on private transport, according to officials at EcoFleet.

According to the company, the service is designed to gradually shift user behaviour towards public transport by offering a structured and reliable alternative for airport transfers.

“The broader goal is to encourage Rwandans and visitors to increasingly depend on public transport systems, while also supporting the country’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions,” said Aldo Havugimana, Brand and Communication Manager at EcoFleet.

“For passengers not travelling from hotels to the airport, existing public transport routes will continue to operate, as they already include a stop at the airport.”

Once operational, the service is expected to complement existing transport options, ease congestion around the airport, and reinforce the use of environmentally friendly transport technologies.
