Africa-Press – Rwanda. Christine Omutoni was appointed as the UN Resident Coordinator in Liberia on 1 February and assumed the position immediately.
Over the years, he has had rich and wide-ranging experience in UN functions and diplomacy in various capacities and most recently served as the UN Resident Coordinator in Mauritius and Seychelles in 2018 prior to the UN reforms.
He was previously a United Nations Resident, Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Eritrea.
In 2005, as Head of the Governance, Justice, Gender and HIV Unit in Rwanda, she helped produce the first Rwanda Co-Governance Assessment Report and Capacity Building for Government Institutions covering elections, anti-corruption, justice, human rights. supported and peacemaking
Before joining the United Nations system, she worked as a development consultant focusing on governance and gender.
As Rwanda’s ambassador to Belgium, Omutoni has held credentials in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the European Union and the Vatican.
Prior to the diplomatic mission, he worked in the Office of the President as an adviser on economic and social affairs, supporting the development of Rwanda’s poverty reduction strategy, among other things.
