Basketball: Kazeneza, Furaha to miss playoffs

Africa-Press – Rwanda. APR Small Forward Emile Galoise Kazeneza and Patriots’ Cadeaux de Dieu Furaha will miss the basketball league playoffs slated for Wednesday, August 23 through September 20 due to academic engagements.

The pair were expected to participate in the playoffs with their respective teams but they won’t be available as they are busy with studies in the United States of America.

APR and Patriots will miss their services, having had fair contributions to their results during the regular season.

Kazeneza, for instance, contributed 64 points for APR in the second round of the regular season. He features for APR in addition to playing college education at William Carey University.

Meanwhile, Furaha scored 71 points and 35 rebounds for Patriots during the regular season. He formerly played for US-based school teams including the New Mexico Military Institute, Abilene Christian University, and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith.

The playoffs tip off on Wednesday with a semi-final phase that will be played in a best of five series, before the final that will be in a best of seven format.

The Patriots will rub shoulders with APR while Rwanda Energy Group (REG) will take on Espoir in the semi-finals.

The two teams that progress from there will play against each other in the finals, with a trophy and qualification for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) at stake.
