Africa-Press – Rwanda. CANAL+ Rwanda brought joy to 50 underprivileged children of the A-Bato Organisation, Gikondo, by hosting a festive celebration with them at Canal Olympia Rebero on Wednesday, December 20. The children, accompanied by their parents, arrived at the venue by 9:40 am.

All wearing blue t-shirts, they eagerly entered the movie cinema, each carrying a bowl of popcorn. After choosing their seats, they all focused their attention on the screen in anticipation of the film. At 10 am, the movie, Wish, a 2023 Disney film, started showing.

The captivating animated style and melodies of the movie entertained the youngsters, making them giggle, laugh, and enjoy the storyline —Wish follows a girl named Asha (Ariana DeBose), whose passionate wish causes the sky to give her a star.

At the end of the film, the young ones emphasised that it was the greatest movie they had ever seen. They conveyed their wish to be dutiful children who will bring joy to their parents.

Some expressed their intention to positively impact their parents’ lives by building them good houses, purchasing cars for them, and providing all the necessities that money can buy, as a way of showing appreciation for their care and guidance in shaping them into remarkable individuals.

The children received gifts from Canal+ Rwanda which included food and cooking ingredients for the festive season.

Aime Christian Abizera, the sales director at CANAL+ Rwanda, said the corporate social responsibility programme began three years ago. The company reaches out to various organisations and provides them with financial support — this is the third time that Canal+ Rwanda has celebrated with deprived children and their families during the festive season.

“We started a partnership with A-Bato Organisation where we pay school fees for 50 children, and provide them with scholastic materials,” Abizera said.

Abizera’s Christmas message is for people to be joyful and share love.

CANAL+ Rwanda offers a festive season promotion for decoder owners and program for kids during this season. Subscribers, with the same formular of their packages, can enjoy access to all channels for a month each time they subscribe.
