Mugabe is one of the most successful players of his generation, both on club and national team levels. He won five championships during his time at Patriots.

He was also part of the Patriots team that reached the semifinals of the inaugural edition Basketball Africa League (BAL) in 2021. No Rwandan team, aside Patriots, has made it this far at the continental competition.
