Rwanda and Kenya will Thursday, June 13, rub shoulders in the semi-finals of both boys’ and girls’ U18 FIBA AfroBasket Zone 5 qualifiers at Lugogo Indoor Stadium, Kampala, Uganda.
Having secured victories against Kenya and Tanzania and suffering one loss to hosts Uganda in the earlier stages of the qualifiers, Rwanda’s U18 boys’ team managed to advance to the semi-finals, where they are set for a rematch with Kenya.
On the other hand, having won one game and lost two, the U18 girls’ team drew Kenya as their next opponent in the semi-finals.
The tournament is played in a round robin format under which all the four teams in each category play against each other before a ranking is made.
The top-ranked team faces the bottom team, while the second and third-placed teams also come up against each other in the semi-finals to determine the finalists.
The competition will determine the countries which will represent the East African region at the FIBA continental tournament, U18 AfroBasket.
