Africa-Press – Rwanda. The City of Kigali and police have urged commuters to be patient as they are, on Saturday, August 10, set to issue a road use guide in line with preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Paul Kagame scheduled for August 11, at Amahoro Stadium.

“As we prepare for the Inauguration Ceremony of the President of the Republic of Rwanda on Sunday, 11 August 2024, we kindly ask commuters in City of Kigali to remain patient as the guests joining Rwandans in this ceremony arrive. Traffic police officers will be available to assist with directions. We will soon share a detailed travel guide for Inauguration Day,” reads a statement posted by the City of Kigali on its X page, on August 10.

Speaking to The New Times, the Spokesperson of Rwanda National Police, ACP Boniface Rutikanga, said that as guests start arriving on Saturday, there is no doubt that there could be frequent traffic interruptions for vehicles so that arriving guests can pass.

Underscoring the City of Kigali’s message, he said that commuters should be patient or use alternative roads.

Specifically for the inauguration day, Rutikanga said, “we will indicate the roads that will be used by guests, and the roads that residents can use for their other activities.”

He said that there are roads that will be mostly used by the guests or leaders [including Heads of State of different countries], especially the road from Kigali International Airport to the city centre, the road from the airport to Amahoro Stadium, and the road from the airport to parts of Kacyuru.
