Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwandan midfielder Hakim Sahabo has praised Beerschot FC coach Dirk Kuyt for helping him to rediscover his form.
The teenager is on loan at Beerschot from fellow Jupiler Pro League side Standard Liege and is already making his mark.
Sahabo has played eight games providing one assist and amassing a total of 648 minutes on the field. His great form has earned him a call up back to the Amavubi squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Lesotho this month.
In an interview with Beerschot’s media, he mentioned that the trust Liverpool legend Kuyt has placed in him has given him the urge to excel.
“I am extremely grateful to the coach for the confidence he has in me. At Beerschot I have been able to rediscover the joy of football and I notice that I am improving every match. The entire coaching staff helps me to give the best of myself and that involvement and appreciation means a lot to me. I feel good in Beerschot,” he said.
The teenager is expected back at Standard Liege in June as no outright sale clause was inserted in the loan move.
During his career, he has already played for the youth teams of Anderlecht, Lille among others.
Beerschot is currently at the bottom of the 16 team table of the Belgian topflight, but Sahabo says they need to believe and give it their all.
“We will continue to give it our all in every match. We owe that to ourselves and the supporters. I really love these supporters. The home matches at the Kiel are special every time and I hope that we can make something beautiful of it tomorrow evening together with the supporters,” he noted.
