Africa-Press – Rwanda. In intense semi-final playoff matches of the national volleyball league, held this Saturday, March 22 at Petit Stade Indoor Gymnasium, both Police men’s and women’s clubs secured tickets to the finals after seeing off Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Kepler respectively.
Volleyball enthusiasts are now looking forward to witnessing finals between security organs backed by Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).
The women’s semi-final match between took place earlier. Kepler were aiming to bounce back from their first playoff loss but Police proved too tough to break, winning the game in three sets (25-22, 25-22, 25-16).
Left hitters Melidinah Sande and Catherine Aine Mbabazi made the difference as Police won the first two sets with identical scores 25-22. Kepler were already looking down as they went on to lose the decisive set 16-25 with Angel Uwamuhoza scored the decisive point.

They will now face APR who eliminated Rwanda Revenue Authority in the semifinals.
Next up were Police who overpowered Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in four sets (25-22, 26-24, 23-25, 25-22).
Prior to the match, the volleyball fraternity inside Petit Stade observed a minute of silence in honour of late Rwandan journalist Jean Lambert Gatare, who passed away on Friday.
Fred Musoni’s side started the match strongly and took the first set 25-22. In the second set, both teams traded points, but REG took a one-point lead, prompting Musoni to call a timeout at 18-19. This allowed his squad to take the set 26-24, leaving REG’s coach Jean Patrick Ndaki’s team struggling to recover.
In the third set, REG regrouped and prevented Police from taking a three-set sweep, winning 25-23 and forcing a fourth set while the law enforcers won 25-22 to seal the victory. They will now face APR who eliminated Kepler in the semifinals.
