Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>APR star Osborn Shema on Saturday, May 3, flew to Qatar for surgery days after suffering a lengthy injury which will side-line him for a number of months.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old tore his ACL during APR’s 94-92 win over United Generation Basketball (UGB) in the 2025 basketball GMT final on April 27 and is expected to be out of action between six and nine months.<\/p>\n

He will be treated at Aspetar, a top orthopaedic and sports hospital based in Doha. The hospital previously treated some sports stars including the likes of Brazilian forward Neymar da Silva Santos Junior in 2023.<\/p>\n

Shema has established himself as a key player for APR and the national team. His injury was a big blow for APR who will miss his services during their Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2025 campaign which begins with the Nile Conference due in Kigali from May 17-25.<\/p>\n

Shema’s teammate, Nobel Boungou Colo, also had a successful surgery on his Achilles\u2019 tendon at Clinique Jouvenet – Ramsay Sante\u0301 in France-courtesy<\/p>\n
