Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>APR FC winger Gilbert Mugisha was all smiles after powering APR FC to their first Peace Cup glory in eight years.<\/p>\n

APR had not won the Peace Cup since 2017 until and Mugisha was on the scoresheet in Sunday\u2019s 2-0 final victory at Amahoro Stadium as the army side broke the jinx.<\/p>\n

“It has been long since we won the Peace Cup…7 years now, so we were eager to win it and we did. The coaches and all the technical staff helped us. We worked as a team. We were really prepared for Rayon.” He told the Press.<\/p>\n

On a personal note, Mugisha was elated with his goal which contributed to APR’s victory over his former club.<\/p>\n

“I’m happy for the goal and for helping my team to win. It was a good game for me.”<\/p>\n

He further revealed that APR have become much stronger with the foreign players, emphasizing that they also push local players to improve their performance and give their best to the team.<\/p>\n

“Rwandan players are not lazy. The foreign players in the team are good. They make us to be on our toes and perform better. They also bring competition which is good for team success.”<\/p>\n

On his part, head coach Darko Novic commended his players for a good job done and stressed they truly deserved the Peace Cup trophy.<\/p>\n

“The target was to win; we went all out. My players deserve the trophy; they have worked hard for the whole year. I am very happy for my players. We have played CECAFA finals, Heroes Cup final and we won Peace Cup,” he said.<\/p>\n

Novic also heaped praise on striker Djibril Ouattara who has been in form since his arrival at the club in January. He was also on target on Sunday against Rayon Sports as he gave his side the lead in the fourth minute.<\/p>\n

\u201cOuattara played in Morocco and Algeria he is an amazing player. We will try to see what happens,” Novic added.<\/p>\n
