Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>A group of 11 athletes, including six men and five women on Monday, May 26, joined the camp preparing for the much-anticipated Kigali International Peace Marathon 2025 slated for June 8.<\/p>\n

The athletics event will be taking place for the 20th time bringing together top long-distance runners from across the globe.<\/p>\n

The local Athletics governing body (RAF) on Monday, May 26, released the final roster of athletes who will represent Rwanda at the marathon.<\/p>\n

Rwanda will be represented in men\u2019s half marathon, men\u2019s full marathon and women\u2019s half marathon. No Rwandan athletes showed interest in competing in women\u2019s full marathon.<\/p>\n

Selected athletes play for local top-tier athletics clubs such as APR, Sina Gerard and Police. They are all camping at La Palisse Hotel, Nyamata.<\/p>\n

The Kigali International Peace Marathon features races in three categories including Full Marathon (42.195 KM), Half Marathon, (21097 KM), and Run for Peace (10 KM).<\/p>\n

All races will conclude at Amahoro Stadium and BK Arena.<\/p>\n

This year’s edition will run under the theme; ‘Bring the world to Kigali and take Kigali to the world’.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to make the competition the best marathon on the continent by 2026 and one of the world’s major marathon by 2029,\u201d said RAF president Col (Rtd) Lemuel Kayumba in a press statement.<\/p>\n

Full squad:<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s Half Marathon: Victor Ingabire, Jean Claude Nsabimana and Emmanuel Nshimiyimana (all from APR) as well as Primien Manirafasha (Sina Gerard).<\/p>\n

Men’s Full Marathon: Fidele Ntirenganya (Sina Gerard) and Noel Hitimana (APR).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Half Marathon: Adeline Musabyeyezu and Angelique (both from APR), Florence Niyonkuru and Emeline Imanizabayo (both SINA Gerard) and Jeanne Gentille Uwizeyimana (Police).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Full Marathon: None<\/p>\n
