Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The sports fraternity and friends of APR FC will Friday, July 4, join the club in celebrating 32 years of existence. The event will take place at Mulindi w\u2019Intwali in Gicumbi District where the club was founded.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1993 by Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA), APR FC is one of the most successful clubs in Rwandan football history. The club won the domestic double including the Rwanda Premier League title, overcoming tough competition from close rivals Rayon Sports. It was their 23rd record-extending title in their past 32 years an achievement.<\/p>\n

APR\u2019s history goes beyond just the fight for liberation struggle. Its army had talent which inspired them to establish a franchise of many teams across various sports including football, basketball, handball, volleyball and athletics among others.<\/p>\n

APR FC has dominated the Rwandan football scene, winning 23 league titles and 14 Peace Cups. They’ve also won the CECAFA clubs Cup three times.<\/p>\n

While the club holds a significant meaning on Rwanda\u2019s liberation struggle, the event will coincide with the 31st Liberation Day.<\/p>\n

On that special occasion, players and fans will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of APR from its original base at Mulinzi w\u2019Intwali and the idea of establishing a football club.<\/p>\n

The club will unveil new players, new coaching staff, new kits for the 2025\/26 season and new logo as well as the architectural design of its own stadium which will be built in the near future.<\/p>\n

APR has a strong connection to Mulindi, as it was the site of headquarters and command center during the liberation struggle.<\/p>\n

The Rwanda Liberation Museum, located in Mulindi, highlights the RPF’s struggle from 1990 to 1994 and its role in ending the 1994 genocide.<\/p>\n

Mulindi was a strategic location, providing a base for planning, communication, and receiving supplies during the war.<\/p>\n
