Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Amavubi duo Emmanuel Imanishimwe and Yannick Mukunzi are hoping to come back strong after recovering from injuries.<\/p>\n

Imanishimwe started light training with Cyprus-based side AEL Limassol after seven months on the sidelines through a knee injury and he is optimistic he is fit enough to return to competitive action.<\/p>\n

“It is something I cherish after coming back from injury, I am looking forward to working hard and to play competitive games. I am doing well in training and I am ready to regain my level of competitiveness again,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Imanishimwe suffered the injury on his knee in a match he played on December 14, 2024, when his team played against Omonia Nicosia. He underwent a knee surgery in January and he has since been out of action.<\/p>\n

He returned to training earlier this week and is part of the team preparing for the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n

“I am working on my fitness. It is good to keep up the technical part as a professional player but mostly, when you are from injury, you need to work hard on the fitness part and my coaches are helping me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy to return and I am ready to give 100% to make sure I help myself and my team,\u201d the former Rayon Sports and APR left back added.<\/p>\n

Imanishimwe is now AEL Limassol, under new coach Paolo Tramezzani, , Mangwende was among the players who had recovered well from the injury.<\/p>\n

Imanishimwe joined AEL Limassol last year. He played just 13 games for the club before suffering injury which also saw him miss the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March and the friendly matches against Algeria in June.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, his counterpart Yannick Mukunzi also resumed training after recovering from ligament injury.<\/p>\n

Mukunzi spent six years at Sandvikens IF in the Second Division in Sweden and has said that he is ready to move on.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have had two cruciate ligament injuries. But I am doing well now. I have been off the field and the doctors have taken care of me and I have put in the effort.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Rwanda international returned to action in April after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have recovered from that injury; I can say that the doctors have put in the effort. I have started training and I will start playing in July,\u201d Mukunzi said<\/p>\n

\u201cI am coming back much stronger. I am working hard so that I can be able to play normally and be ready for the competitions,\u201d he added<\/p>\n
