{"id":106060,"date":"2025-07-24T16:45:36","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T16:45:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/rwanda\/all-news\/kigali-removes-35-humps-for-2025-uci-championship"},"modified":"2025-07-24T17:03:16","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T17:03:16","slug":"kigali-removes-35-humps-for-2025-uci-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/rwanda\/sport\/kigali-removes-35-humps-for-2025-uci-championship","title":{"rendered":"Kigali Removes 35 Humps for 2025 UCI Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda Cycling Federation president Samson Ndayishimiye has revealed that 35 road humps have been removed along the 2025 UCI Road World Championship routes in Kigali as part of efforts to ensure smooth and safe races during the highly anticipated event.<\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive interview with Times Sport, Ndayishimiye said the adjustments are part of broader infrastructure upgrades being carried out in partnership with the City of Kigali and the Rwanda Transport Development Agency (RTDA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re working with the City of Kigali and RTDA to remove about 35 road humps along the routes,\u201d he said, noting that the move is designed to meet international racing standards and enhance riders\u2019 safety.<\/p>\n<p>The world championship, scheduled for September 21-28, will feature time trials, a team relay, and road races\u2014all mapped out on challenging circuits that highlight Kigali\u2019s terrain and cityscape.<\/p>\n<p>The individual time trials, set to run over the first three days, will begin inside BK Arena \u2014 marking a historic first for the UCI, as no world championship has ever started from an indoor venue.<\/p>\n<p>Riders will then race through key city points including Kimironko, Chez Lando, Gisimenti, Sonatubes, Kicukiro Centre, Gahanga, and Gikondo, before finishing at the Kigali Convention Centre (KCC).<\/p>\n<p>On the fourth day, the mixed team relay will follow the same route, starting and ending at KCC.<\/p>\n<p>The final four days will be dedicated to road races, also starting and finishing at KCC.
