Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Former sports journalist Jules Karangwa has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Premier League, the body that governs men\u2019s topflight league.<\/p>\n

Until his appointment, Karangwa was the Legal Advisor to the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA).<\/p>\n

While his appointment takes effect on Wednesday, August 6, he is expected to assume office on September 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cRwanda Premier League is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jules Karangwa as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 6,\u201d the league office said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Karangwa had been with FERWAFA for six years since he joined in 2019, after he left Radio\/TV10 where he was working as a sports journalist.<\/p>\n

In addition to his duties as Legal Advisor, Karangwa served as Head of the Competitions Department and Deputy Spokesperson of the federation.<\/p>\n

The Rwanda Premier League is headed towards a new era, with the position of CEO being the first of its kind at the league body. The CEO will play a role in improving the Rwandan League through his experience in football.<\/p>\n

Over the years, Karangwa has been involved in coordinating a number of major competitions or matches organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) including the Champions League and Confederation Cup.<\/p>\n

He is also used to training administrators and staff from various federations in Africa on the modern functioning and management of various football institutions.<\/p>\n

Karangwa rose to prominence since 2016 when he finished his studies at the University of Rwanda in Huye, where he combined a career in journalism with legal advice for players, coaches and other individuals involved in the Rwandan sports ecosystem.<\/p>\n

At that time, he was head on sports programs on Radio Salus, from where he moved to Royal TV in Kigali City before joining Radio\/TV10.<\/p>\n
