Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) President Samir Xaud has said the country is interested in hosting the next edition of FIFA Club World Cup which will take place in 2029.<\/p>\n

Xaud confirmed the development in a live interview with Globo’s cable channel, Sportv.<\/p>\n

“I was there [at the Club World Cup]. Not only did the clubs put on a show, but the Brazilian fans also packed the stadiums and were very enthusiastic. This excited [FIFA President Gianni] Infantino,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used the good moment of Brazilian football and gave him my message: ‘Brazil is applying to host the next Club World Cup in 2029.’ Brazil has all the infrastructure to host the tournament. It would be very good for Brazilian football, for the Brazilian clubs. I am very committed to this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be in the last year of my term; I want to host this tournament for Brazilian football,” he added.<\/p>\n

Brazil was represented by four teams including Botafogo (debutants), Flamengo, Fluminense and Palmeiras.<\/p>\n

Fluminense, who were in the same Group D as Mamelodi Sundowns, went on to reach the semifinals where they fell 0-2 to eventual winners Chelsea. The two goals were scored by a former Fluminense youth product \u2013 Joao Pedro.<\/p>\n

Estevao, who is considered the biggest talent to come out of Brazil since Neymar, was one of the standout players at the tournament featuring for Palmeiras. He played his last game for the Sa\u0304o Paulo side in the quarterfinals of the tournament against Chelsea where he scored before they lost 1-2 despite his goal.<\/p>\n

He has since joined the Blues of England.<\/p>\n

Brazilian clubs have won the last six Copa Libertadores titles since 2019. Flamengo (2019 and 2022), Palmeiras (2020 and 2021), Fluminense (2023) and Botafogo (2024).<\/p>\n

Debutants Botafogo were the only other team to beat European champions PSG at the Club World Cup 2025 in a 1-0 surprise victory apart from Chelsea\u2019s 4-0 win in the final. The lone scorer Igor Jesus has since joined Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
