Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Three clubs from Sudan\u2014 Al-Merrikh SC, Al Hilal SC and Al Ahli SC Wad Madani\u2014may soon be included in the 2025\/26 Rwanda Premier League fixture schedule which is under review, according to sources.<\/p>\n

Sources from both Rwanda FA and the league board (RPL) confirmed to Times Sport that the three clubs formally requested to join the Rwandan league and will be ready as soon as their requests are accepted.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, we received their requests.,\u201d a source told Times Sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is possible that they can join our league, but a decision is yet to be made.\u201d<\/p>\n

A meeting between the Rwandan league board and the federation is scheduled this week to examine the requests submitted by the clubs, the source revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe league board and the federation will meet this week but, as things stand now, there are high chances that they won\u2019t wait for a long time to be approved. Possibly, they could start playing in the league in the coming week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Al Hilal SC, Al-Merrikh SC and Al Ahli SC Wad Madani, aren\u2019t participating in any football competition taking place on the Sudanese soil due to the ongoing political instability in the country that has led to the displacement of a large number of Sudanese and the suspension of Sports activities in the country.<\/p>\n

For the same reason, the Sudanese national team has also been hosting its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and World Cup 2026 qualifiers at either Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, or Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.<\/p>\n

Times Sport understands that all three club are already settled in Rwanda as they wait for the decision to be allowed to play in the topflight league. Al Hilal SC are particularly hosting their CAF Champions League matches in Kigali and are set to welcome Kenya Police to Amahoro Stadium in the second preliminary round second leg match on Friday, October 24.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that the club will be hosting its Champions League matches at the stadium throughout the 2025\/26 campaign.<\/p>\n

Both Al-Merrikh and Al Hilal competed in the Mauritanian top tier during the 2024\/25 season to earn qualification to this season’s CAF CL.<\/p>\n
