Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Burundi striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana has seen his suspension extended to three matches following his horror challenge on Kenya goalkeeper Brian Bwire during last month\u2019s World Cup qualifier in Bujumbura.<\/p>\n

The former Rayon Sports and Kaizer Chiefs striker was shown a straight red card after attempting to meet a cross from the right, only for his boot to make contact with the face of Harambee Stars\u2019 Bwire.<\/p>\n

The shot stopper was stretchered off in pain and needed a couple of weeks before he returned to action after a five-inch cut above his eye.<\/p>\n

The world football governing body (FIFA) had suspended Bimenyimana for one match which saw him miss Burundi\u2019s final qualifier against Gabon, but he will miss a further two matches after FIFA extended his suspension to three matches.<\/p>\n

This means that he will miss Burundi\u2019s upcoming international friendly against Zambia on November 18.<\/p>\n

He was further slapped with a fine of Swiss Francs 5,000 (Rwf9,070,167.66 m) over the incident.<\/p>\n

Bimenyimana made his Burundi debut in 2017 and has so far earned 24 caps, scoring seven goals.<\/p>\n
