Police FC 1-0 Gasogi United<\/p>\n

A second-half strike from Ani Elijah was enough to keep Police FC unbeaten in the Rwanda Premier League after a hard-fought 1\u20130 victory over Gasogi United at Kigali Pele\u0301 Stadium on Friday.<\/p>\n

Police dominated large the majority of the match, creating numerous chances but initially failing to convert them.<\/p>\n

Both teams began the contest searching for an early breakthrough. Police came close in the 10th minute when Christian Ishimwe picked out Ani Elijah inside the penalty area, but the striker fired his effort wide.<\/p>\n

The game was largely contested in midfield during the first half, with few clear-cut opportunities. Gasogi United nearly opened the scoring in the 39th minute, but Hamisi Hakim\u2019s powerful long-range strike drifted wide of the target.<\/p>\n

The first half ended goalless, but Police emerged after the break with renewed determination. Their persistence paid off just six minutes into the second half, when Alain Kwitonda played a one-two with Ani, who calmly finished to give Police the lead.<\/p>\n

Police had a golden opportunity to double their advantage in the 58th minute when Ani was fouled in the penalty area. However, Lague Byiringiro saw his spot kick saved by Gasogi goalkeeper Aime Gae\u0308l Cyuzuzo.<\/p>\n

Gasogi pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages and enjoyed more possession, but their hopes were dented when Marc Nkubana was sent off after referee Samuel Uwikunda showed him a second yellow card for fouling Byiringiro.<\/p>\n

Nkubana\u2019s dismissal proved decisive, allowing Ben Moussa\u2019s side to see out the match and secure all three points.<\/p>\n

The result keeps Police FC top of the table with 26 points from 12 matches, while Gasogi United remain fourth on 18 points.<\/p>\n
