Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>APR Women\u2019s Volleyball Club (APR WVC) are currently assessing three Kenyan players who are on trial as the club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of Phase Two of the National Volleyball League, scheduled to begin on January 9, 2026.<\/p>\n

Club Secretary General Alphonse Mugema confirmed that the players have been undergoing both physical and technical evaluations over the past two weeks.<\/p>\n

The trio includes receiver attacker\/opposite Mercyline Wabwira Nakhamica, middle blocker Sylvia Asimit Lachilla and setter Linar Ogwera Achieng.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are closely assessing their physicality and overall performance. The positive aspect is that they are all young players with the potential to raise the competitiveness of our league,\u201d Mugema told Times Sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, their inclusion in the squad will depend entirely on how they perform during the trials.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under the tutelage of head coach Peter Kamasa, APR WVC dominated Phase One of the league, finishing top of the regular-season standings with a perfect record, winning all six matches to collect 18 points.<\/p>\n

Despite the impressive start, the club made significant changes during the transfer window, releasing six players from the squad. So far, only one new signing has been confirmed\u2014setter Yvonne Umugwaneza.<\/p>\n

APR WVC are keen to strengthen further as they seek to avoid a repeat of last season\u2019s disappointment, when they lost the league finals to Police WVC, who went on to secure their maiden league title just two years after joining the Rwanda Volleyball League.<\/p>\n

APR WVC will open Phase Two with a fixture against Kepler VWC, as they begin a renewed push for the championship.<\/p>\n
