Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>BPR Bank Rwanda has officially joined the Tour du Rwanda 2026 as the competition\u2019s main banking sponsor. The partnership, which will run for a period one year, was unveiled on Sunday, February 8, during the Kigali Car Free Day sports event.<\/p>\n

The Bank of the Year 2025 becomes one of the key sponsors of the international cycling race, which holds UCI 2.1 status. Through this collaboration, BPR Bank Rwanda aims to promote a saving culture among Rwandans by engaging customers throughout the eight-day race, scheduled from February 22 to March 1, as the event travels across the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the decision to support the Tour du Rwanda, BPR Bank Rwanda Managing Director Patience Mutesi said that the bank\u2019s involvement aligns with its broader commitment to community development and well-being.<\/p>\n

\u201cBPR Bank is already a partner in many sports disciplines. By joining this annual cycling event, we believe that physical fitness is essential for personal development. Our goal is not only to promote healthier lifestyles but also to contribute to the overall welfare of our communities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Tour du Rwanda 2026 will feature 18 teams competing for the prestigious yellow jersey across eight stages. As part of its contribution, BPR Bank Rwanda will award the best Rwandan rider in each stage. The bank will also use the platform to promote its new product, \u2018Goal Savings Account\u2019, which offers an annual interest rate of 8 percent.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe chose to reward the best Rwandan rider because we believe local communities should benefit first before our initiatives reach international audiences. Promoting the saving culture will help our customers plan for a brighter financial future,\u201d Mutesi added.<\/p>\n

Samson Ndayishimiye, the president of Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY), welcomed the partnership, emphasizing its importance in strengthening the financial and economic impact of the race.<\/p>\n

\u201cPartnering with a bank that has branches in almost every district will help us maintain a smooth experience for all stakeholders involved in the Tour du Rwanda. More importantly, it will ensure that the economic benefits of the race reach the communities along the route,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

BPR Bank Rwanda Plc operates 75 branches nationwide, a network that will facilitate financial services in the nine districts through which the race will pass. Cycling now becomes the third major sport supported by the bank, alongside motorsport and golf.<\/p>\n
