Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley has reaffirmed her commitment to deepening ties with Rwanda, responding to congratulatory messages from President Paul Kagame following her re-election victory.<\/p>\n

In her response to Kagame\u2019s post on X, Mottley highlighted the value Barbados places on its relationship with the African nations particularly Rwanda, signaling that bilateral cooperation will be a priority in her third term.<\/p>\n

\u201cBarbados deeply values its bond with Rwanda, and I look forward to strengthening our cooperation as we work to secure dignity, opportunity, and prosperity for our people,\u201d Motley wrote wrote on X on February 14.<\/p>\n

She pledged to enhance collaboration comes as both nations seek to leverage their strategic positions as regional hubs\u2014Rwanda in East Africa and Barbados in the Caribbean, to attract investment and foster development.<\/p>\n

During her last visit to Rwanda in 2022, Mottley reflected on the deep historical ties between Africa and the Caribbean, noting that while the two regions share centuries of connection, they have remained geographically and economically distant with limited movement between their people.<\/p>\n

She stressed that the time had come to transform that history, once defined by forced links for \u201cnefarious purposes,\u201d into a new era of honourable partnership, cooperation, and expanded opportunities for both regions.<\/p>\n

Since establishing formal cooperation in 2022, the two countries have signed agreements spanning aviation, taxation, health, and technology sectors.<\/p>\n
