Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold-Chain (ACES) has been offering essentials in brazing techniques for refrigeration systems courses.<\/p>\n

This course, combining theoretical and practical activities, is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills for safe, effective brazing, in line with proper brazing practices and procedures.<\/p>\n

In the refrigeration industry, proper brazing ensures leak-free, durable, and efficient performance. It helps prevent refrigerant loss, reduces environmental impact, and supports the safe use of natural refrigerants, which may be flammable or toxic.<\/p>\n

This course is ideal for individuals working with, or responsible for, refrigeration systems, including beginners in the cold chain eager to learn brazing skills, cold room installers and operators, technical supervisors and maintenance personnel, facility and operations managers, entrepreneurs managing refrigeration-based businesses, and refrigeration and HVAC technicians.<\/p>\n

The Brazing Techniques for Refrigeration Systems Course covers key topics.<\/p>\n

The theory overview includes brazing basics and safety, focusing on what brazing is and its role in refrigeration; basic principles such as heat control, filler metals, and nitrogen purging; and an overview of tools and equipment.<\/p>\n

Key safety principles cover torch lighting and shutdown, fire risks and prevention, and essential personal protective equipment (PPE).<\/p>\n

Demonstration entails setup and techniques, including setting up a brazing station, equipment checks and safety, nitrogen purging demonstration, and torch lighting and control techniques.<\/p>\n

Hands-on practice teaches joint preparation and brazing. This includes cleaning and preparing copper pipes, fitting lap joints, supervised brazing joints with guided instruction, focusing on torch control, filler application, and posture.<\/p>\n
