Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente on Thursday, February 24 joined leaders from the region for discussions around implementing peace and security cooperation framework for DRC and the Great Lakes Region.<\/p>\n

The premier was representing President Paul Kagame at 10th edition of the Summit in Kinshasa, that convened several heads of state from different countries in the region.<\/p>\n

Determined to end the cycles of conflict and violence that has for years characterized Africa\u2019s Great Lakes Region, particularly the eastern DRC, 13 countries have so far signed the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the region.<\/p>\n

The Framework outlines commitments at the national, regional and international levels, to consolidate peace and security in eastern DRC and promote cooperation between the Governments of the region.<\/p>\n

The African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN) are the co-chairs for the PSC Framework governance mechanisms.<\/p>\n

The Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) is the main oversight body under the PSC Framework, according to a statement from the Premier\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

It meets once a year at Head of State and Government level to review progress on the implementation of the national and regional commitments of the signatory countries.<\/p>\n
