Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has confirmed it has submitted to the National Public Prosecution Authority the case of Felix Nshimyumuremyi, the Director-General of Rwanda Housing Authority who was arrested over corruption.<\/p>\n

According to RIB spokesperson, Thierry B. Murangira, the file of Nshimyumuremyi, was on Tuesday, February 28 submitted to prosecution. Nshimyumuremyi and his co-accused Emile Alexis Mugisha, were arrested on February 25.<\/p>\n

Murangira, previously told The New Times that the duo was arrested upon receiving over Rwf15 million ($15,000) out of Rwf203 million ($200,000) total amount they requested as a bribe.<\/p>\n

\u201cNshimyumuremyi solicited a bribe in order to render a service under his mandate,\u201d he said, adding that \u201cThat money was three percent of Rwf8 billion total investment cost\u201d<\/p>\n

The suspects are detained at Kicukiro and Kimihurura RIB stations. Soliciting, accepting of offering a bribe is an offence under articles 4 of the law on fighting against corruption.<\/p>\n

Upon conviction, a person is liable to imprisonment for a term of more than five years but not more than seven years with a fine of three to five times the value of the illegal benefit solicited received.<\/p>\n
