Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda’s representatives in BAL 2022, REG basketball club have announced their final 13-man roster, one day before the much-anticipated showpiece tips off.<\/p>\n

Action will be commence on Saturday, February 5 at Dakar Arena in Dakar, the Senegalese capital.<\/p>\n

The roster includes Rwandan players like Ntore Habimana (based in Canada), Axel Mpoyo (based in USA) and Pierre Thierry Vandriessche (based in France), as well as Americans, Cleveland Thomas and Anthony Rashad Walker, and Nigerian Joy Ighovodja.<\/p>\n

American tactician Robert John Pack Jr will be REG’s head coach at the tournament.<\/p>\n

The 53-year-old will be assisted by Henry Mwinuka who has been in charge of the club during the national basketball league.<\/p>\n

REG were placed in the Sahara Conference alongside AS Sale (Morocco), Dakar Universite Club (Senegal), Seydou Legacy Athletique Club (Guinea), and Ferrovi\u00e1rio da Beira (Mozambique).<\/p>\n

After their opener against AS Sal\u00e9 on Sunday, Pack\u2019s side will take on Seydou Legacy Athletique on March 9, and then play Dakar Universite Club on March 11.<\/p>\n

On March 14, they will play against Tunisian Powerhouse US-Monastir.<\/p>\n

Their last game will be against Ferrovi\u00e1rio da Beira (Mozambique) on March 15.<\/p>\n

Altogether, 12 teams from different African countries will participate in the tournament.<\/p>\n

They are divided into two conferences \u2013 the Sahara Conference and the Nile Conference.<\/p>\n

Teams in each conference will play against each other, and the top 4 will proceed to the next round of playoffs which will be on a knockout basis (quarterfinals, semifinals and then finals).<\/p>\n

The Sahara Conference\u2019s games will take place at the Dakar Arena in Senegal from March 5-15, while the Nile Conference\u2019s group phase will take place at Hassan Mostafa Indoor Sports Complex in Cairo from April 9-19.<\/p>\n
