Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Kamena Stadium will be Mukura\u2019s new home during the remaining league campaign of the 2021\/2022 season so as to pave way for the renovation works at Huye Stadium.<\/p>\n

The Huye-based club currently hosts their home games at Huye Stadium but were made to shift to Kamena Stadium until the ongoing renovation is completed.<\/p>\n

The contractors are working days and nights at the stadium, which is the only option Rwanda is counting on if the country is to stand a chance to play their home games of the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers following delays in renovating both the Amahoro stadium and Kigali stadium.<\/p>\n

Qualifiers for the AFCON 2023 kick off in June.<\/p>\n

Currently, there is no stadium in the Rwandan capital that meets the standards required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for international matches after an inspection that was conducted by FIFA officials in April 2021.<\/p>\n

Some of the key features to be renovated at Huye Stadium include media area, changing room, public toilets and bathrooms for players.<\/p>\n

Gorilla FC will be first to visit Mukura at Kamena Stadium when they face off in Saturday\u2019s league clash.<\/p>\n

After Gorilla, Tony Hernadez\u2019s side will also use the stadium when they host AS Kigali on May 7 and Gicumbi on May 23.<\/p>\n

The club hopes to return to Huye Stadium at the beginning of next season.<\/p>\n
