Africa-Press<\/a> – Rwanda<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Amagaju have become the first team in the second division football league to have their players tested for Covid-19 as they gear up for the restart of competitive action.<\/p>\n

The players and staff of the Nyamagabe-based side took the coronavirus tests over the weekend, and have said that they are ready to resume group training \u2018as soon as the health authorities and Ministry of Sports approve it\u2019.<\/p>\n

Former Rwanda Premier League side Amagaju, who were relegated at the end of the 2018\/19 season, are one of the eight playoffs teams vying for the two tickets up for grabs in the race for promotion to the topflight league for the upcoming 2020\/21 season.<\/p>\n

In an interview, Amagaju Secretary-General Martin Hagenimana said that, \u201cWe have been told that the playoffs will start soon, so we are getting ready and hopefully we will be allowed to start training in a few days.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPlayers have been out of action for seven months, we need to work hard and be ready to give it our very best shot for a ticket back to the topflight league. We have what it takes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not only Amagaju are the first team in the lower division to get their players tested for Covid-19 but they have also beaten a host of topflight league teams to the exercise as only four \u2013 APR, AS Kigali, Espoir and Sunrise \u2013 teams have had their members tested.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
