Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The Rwanda Football Federation, Ferwafa, has made a U-turn on its earlier decision to disqualify Rwamagana City from the second division playoffs after verifying evidence again.<\/p>\n

The Eastern Province-based side will face Interforce in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n

The decision came after Rwamagana appealed against Ferwafa’s decision to penalize them for using a ‘suspended player’ who had allegedly been given three cumulative yellow cards.<\/p>\n

In their appeal, Rwamagana insisted that the playet in question, Joshua Mbanza, did not have three yellow cards and was eligible to play the second-leg match against AS Muhanga in quarter-finals.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Thursday, Ferwafa ruled in Rwamagana’s favour. “Evidence shows that Joshua Mbanza did not receive a yellow card in the match between Nyagatare FC and Rwamagana City on May 22, 2022.”<\/p>\n

It further added,” The final decision of the (competitions) commission is that Rwamagana will play Interforce in the semi-finals.”<\/p>\n

Rwamagana had been dismissed after AS Muhanga, whom they saw off in the last eight, complained to Ferwafa that Mbanza was ineligible to be featured.<\/p>\n

However, throughout the process, Rwamagana maintained that the complaint was baseless and urged Ferwafa to dig through their records to give them justice.<\/p>\n

By press time on Friday, the local football governing body was yet to determine the day and venue for the semi-final first leg match between Rwamagana and Interforce.<\/p>\n

“We will announce when the match will take place and the stadium in the near future,” the statement from Ferwafa said.<\/p>\n
