Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>AFTER narrowly missing out on the league title last season, Juvenal Mvukiyehe, the president of Kiyovu football club has vowed to use that experience to challenge for trophies next season.<\/p>\n

The club has been quick to dive into the transfer market after signing midfielder Ali Sharaf Eldin Shaiboub and striker John Mano last week. Both players signed two year deals.<\/p>\n

Mvukiyehe is keen to build a strong team that will compete for titles next season.<\/p>\n

Before the horrendous events of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, Kiyovu were the most successful football in the country with six league titles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to use the experience that I got last season and build a strong team as we want to turn Kiyovu into a winning team,\u201d Mvukiyehe said<\/p>\n

The Mumena based team are also looking for a new head coach after the departure of Francis Christian Haringingo who joined rivals Rayon Sports last week.<\/p>\n

Asked about his plan for next season, he said, \u201cto say that we are going to win the title would be premature but I want to make sure we field a competitive side and finish this league on a high note.\u201d<\/p>\n

After decades of struggle and a near-relegation in the 2016\/17 season, the Green Baggies seem to have put their worst days behind them and finished in second place last season after losing out on the league title on the final day of the season.<\/p>\n

Kiyovu won the last of their six league titles in 1993.<\/p>\n
