Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>TVET national practical exams have started today, June 27, and will run until July 15, according to the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA).<\/p>\n

The official launch was held at SOS Technical High School located in Kinyinya Sector, Gasabo District, which is hosting 190 candidates, including 60 females and 130 males.<\/p>\n

According to Bernard Bahati, Director General of NESA, 20,136 students, including 8,929 males and 11,207 females were registered to sit for the exam.<\/p>\n

He noted that the practical exams are coinciding with the end of Term 3 examinations that are being done across the country, but preceded written exams that will kick off July 26.<\/p>\n

According to him, the national practical exams help the institution assess the ability of the students, who are enrolled in 36 trades, on what they are going to take to the labour market, adding that their results reflect what they are capable of doing.<\/p>\n

The Director General also revealed that the government has invested Rwf 800 million in buying consumables to be used during the examination, and urged students to do their best and show what they have learned.<\/p>\n

This year, the number of private candidates sitting for TVET national practical exams are 1414, including 904 males and 510 females.<\/p>\n

Jean De Dieu Hakizayezu, Director of SOS Technical High School, noted that at the site, students who are doing exams are enrolled into three trades: Electronic Services, Networking and Software Development, adding that apart from those from the school he directs, students from APAPER and World Mission TVET School are also doing the exam at the site.<\/p>\n

He said that in the trade of Electronic Services, they have 49 candidates of which 7 are female, while in Networking, among 48, 12 are females. In the Software Development trade, among 93 students, 34 are females while among 7 private candidates, one is male and six are females.<\/p>\n

He is confident that his students will succeed since the school has equipped them with necessary skills and knowledge, adding that he expects them to develop innovations related to their fields as soon as they graduate.<\/p>\n

Honnete Keza Nshutiyayesu, who is sitting for the exam in Networking, said she has acquired enough skills and has learned and utilised materials provided to her, thus she is confident that she will succeed.<\/p>\n

She said that even during the week of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), when they were not going to school, she was able to revise and to do assignments sent to her.<\/p>\n

Thierry Katabarwa, another student sitting for the exam in the Software Development trade, said he was given lessons and has revised in a conducive way with a computer, factors he said are going to usher him throughout the examination and help him succeed.<\/p>\n

According to NESA, written exams for Level 5 of TVET will begin on July 27 and end on August 2, 2022.<\/p>\n
