Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>ADHC Corporate Group in partnership with HUESKER \u2013 a global geotechnical design and geo-synthetics manufacturing company and Geoplast, a plastic fabrication company is training local private and public institutions in the construction sector on adoption of innovative and green solutions.<\/p>\n

Hassan Adan Hassan, the managing director of ADHI Corporate Group said that their partners have experience in water management, foundations, and stabilizing slopes among others.<\/p>\n

The partners will provide mountain slide and flood control, drainage, water infrastructure, earth stabilization and earthworks, roads strengthening and embankments green solutions.<\/p>\n

In terms of earth stabilization and earthworks, the products include systems that reinforce soil on slopes,<\/p>\n

Regarding water infrastructure, some of the solutions include underwater foundations, foundations beneath water-adjacent reclaimed land, reinforcing areas with very soft soils, erosion control, underwater applications, building barriers with high stability on coastal and bank sections and others.<\/p>\n

In drainage and controlling floods, the solutions include storm water retention, infiltration, disposal and water reuse solutions.<\/p>\n

The solutions also include rainwater collection and storage.<\/p>\n

The system collects rainwater temporarily and releases it with a time delay into sewage infrastructure, preventing flooding in urban areas.<\/p>\n

For roads and embankments, the solutions are soil reinforcement solutions among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to share the solutions with the partners in the construction industry\u2026we want them to be aware that the products are on the market so that whenever they initiate a project, ensure sustainable and green solutions in building,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said that green and sustainable solutions are needed starting from the design to the project implementation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe products, such as the foundation system, reusable and recycling products, we are showcasing today are already being used in Bwiza Riverside Homes project in Karama,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Nyarugenge-based affordable housing project targets low income earners.<\/p>\n

The project started with constructing 245 units in the first phase set to be completed by the end of 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdopting green solutions is about changing the mindset of those who write the policies, those who translate policies into proposals and project ideas and those who implement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Emery Torbert Mpano, the civil and geotechnical engineer who is also the project manager at ADHI Group said the innovative solutions-which are environmentally friendly-are also cost saving.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the ways we build in general, but we have to always look for innovative solutions to make things easier and increase the performance of our construction procedures,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

He noted that the solutions include those that deal with floods, manage runoff water, water storage, pavements, those that replace wooden planks which reduces tree cutting among many others.<\/p>\n

He added that after the training, the innovative and environmentally friendly solutions will be disseminated.<\/p>\n

Azzam Khalid S.Tamimi, the Business Development Manager at ADHI Group said that the move is in line with Rwanda\u2019s vision to become a green country.<\/p>\n

Rwanda seeks to become climate-resilient and low-carbon economy by 2050.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith all our materials, we are trying to achieve the 17 goals of sustainable development set up by the UN. That is why we are working with the government to have the adaptability and acceptability of sustainable solutions so that we redefine the construction and infrastructure sector,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Tamimi said that the solutions are very practical, time efficient and cost-effective.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur target is also to export such green solutions across the region. We deal with construction, homes and infrastructure. We have to reduce infrastructure costs with our quick and greenway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
