Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Eight teams will contest in the ongoing U-18 African Championship quarter finals from August 10 through 11.<\/p>\n

Group phase action at the continental showpiece that ended on August 8, saw Rwanda\u2019s U-18 team eliminated.<\/p>\n

Algeria recorded their first win in three games in Group A, beating Benin 85-50, a victory that ensured the North African side a place in the last eight.<\/p>\n

Despite defeat, Benin advanced to the knock out stages due to the four-team Group A lineup, following the last-minute withdrawal of Tanzania.<\/p>\n

Still in Group A, Senegal kept their perfect record in three games after beating hosts Madagascar 70-62.<\/p>\n

The Senegalese not only improved to 3-0, but they also concluded the Group Phase as the only team without tasting defeat in the nine-nation tournament.<\/p>\n

Senegal finished top of their group; Madagascar (2-1) finished second ahead of Algeria and Benin.<\/p>\n

In the five-nation Group B, Angola beat Rwanda (66-55) on Monday to improve to 2-2 while reigning African champions Mali cruised to an easy 74-39 win over Guinea.<\/p>\n

Mali finished top of Group B at 3-1; Egypt also finished with a 3-1 record, but were relegated to second place in the group due to a head-to-head loss to Mali.<\/p>\n

Guinea and Angola finished with a 2-2 mark apiece, but the former claimed the third place thanks to head-to-head win over Angola.<\/p>\n

Quarter final pairings<\/b><\/p>\n

The U18 African Championship Quarter-Final will be played over two days.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, August 10, Mali will face Benin while Guinea go up against Madagascar.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, August 11, Algeria will face Egypt, while Angola will take on Senegal.<\/p>\n
