Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>High Commissioner of Rwanda to Ghana, Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, has urged the Rwandan community to work with excellence in their respective fields and actively contribute towards the development of their country.<\/p>\n

She made the remarks during the celebration of Umuganura that brought together more than 100 members of the Rwandan community living, working and studying in Ghana, at the Chancellery of the High Commission of Rwanda in Accra on August 27.<\/p>\n

Attendees also included Rwandan officials representing various organisations who were in Ghana including Professor Silas Lwakabamba, Managing Director of Coventry University Africa Hub, Jean Damascene Nsengiyukuri, Permanent Secretary of the Rwanda Pharmacy Council and Eugene Rugwizangoga, Technical Director of USAID-RISE Project.<\/p>\n

While observing the National Harvest Day, they reflected on the development gains made by the community and Rwanda in general.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we celebrate the gains of the past years, it is an opportunity to also remind ourselves of the virtues that we draw from our culture, especially the value of working hard with excellence and in unity,\u201d highlighted Kacyira.<\/p>\n

She reiterated that the community has a role to play in increasing cooperation between the two countries and raising contributions to their country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

\u201cRwanda and Ghana have strengthened relations mainly built on deeper cooperation in business and trade, tourism and education, in which members of the Rwandan community in Ghana are appreciated for their commendable contribution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Bikorimana, the Chairperson of the Community, said that over the past two years, the community was challenged by the impact of the Covid-19 in a way that caused some of the previous members to relocate to other countries or return home which affected the momentum of their activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith triumph over the pandemic becoming more real, we are ready to do more over the year ahead so that at the next Umuganura, we have more fruits of our work to celebrate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kacyira emphasized the significant role of Rwanda and Ghana\u2019s leadership especially the Heads of State in fostering stronger cooperation by citing the recent exemplary partnership on vaccine manufacturing project, involving Rwanda, Ghana and Senegal, and is expected to bring vaccine equity to Africa.<\/p>\n
