Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has confirmed the arrest of Diogene Mulindahabi, the principal at IPRC-Kigali, amid the ongoing investigation into the alleged theft and misappropriation of public funds.<\/p>\n

Also in custody are several employees of the institution that was temporarily shut down, for two weeks, by the ministry of education on Sunday, October 23.<\/p>\n

According to the RIB spokesperson, Thierry Murangira, some equipment has been recovered, some of which were directly owned by the culprits.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is true, there is an ongoing investigation into the alleged theft of various equipment at IPRC Kigali,\u201d Murangira added, \u201cWe have so far arrested Mulindahabi Diogene, the School Principal and other employees.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a communique dated October 23, the education ministry also highlighted that no student, staff or the general public will be given access into the premises for the next two weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing a decision by the government of Rwanda, Mineduc informs all students, staff and the general public that the campus of RP-IPRC Kigali is temporarily closed for two weeks, to allow for ongoing investigation into serious cases of theft and misappropriation of public resources.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe call upon all individuals who may have useful information that could benefit the investigation to contact the nearest Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) office.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mineduc also allayed fears of students who are on campus, citing that they would be facilitated to return home, and also be informed on when the campus will be reopened.<\/p>\n
